BIOGRAPHY

Frances Koncan (she/they) is a playwright of mixed Anishinaabe and Slovene. Originally from Couchiching First Nation in Treaty 3 territory, they are currently based in Treaty 1 territory on the land currently called Winnipeg, Manitoba. They hold an MFA in Playwriting from the City University of New York Brooklyn College and a BA in Psychology from the University of Manitoba. A lifelong sufferer and sometimes enjoyer of depression and anxiety, the COVID-19 pandemic ushered in a fun new discovery of ADHD and autism, which is the focus of their current work-in-progress play, Medea's Masquerade. Other upcoming productions include Space Girl at Prairie Theatre Exchange directed by Krista Jackson, The Crows at Gwaandak Theatre directed by Miki Wolf, and Women of the Fur Trade at the Stratford Festival directed by Yvette Nolan.
