BIOGRAPHY

Métis portfolio artist and mezzo-soprano Rebecca Cuddy is acknowledged as an artist of “the next generation who are going to do incredible things” (The Whole Note, 2019). She is one of the recipients of the Dora Award for Outstanding Ensemble Work in Soundstreams’ 'Two Odysseys; Pimootewin and Gállábártnit'.

Rebecca’s theatre creation credits include Assistant Direction for 'Hamlet-911', Stratford Festival, 2022. She was the inaugural artist for the Canadian Opera Company’s Land Acknowledgement Commissioning Program and created, beaded and directed her piece 'where the water meets the land'. She premiered her multi-disciplinary piece 'The Maydee Box' at the 2022 Festival of Live Digital Art.

Rebecca was the 2020-22 Indigenous Artist in Residence at the National Theatre School of Canada. She is a 2022 Native Earth Performing Arts 40 Seeds grant recipient for a new work in development and is part of the 2022 director cohort for The Stratford Festival’s Langham Directors’ Workshop.
